I’ve never niched my business. Instead, I’ve built an eco-system

I’ve never niched my business - instead, I’ve built out an eco-system of topics I love to research, learn about & coach on. Things like inner healing, authentic confidence, aligned marketing, brave action, self-trust, global citizenship, life by design etc.

Elizabeth Gilbert - the author of Eat, Pray, Love - calls this being a hummingbird

Hummingbirds contribute & make a meaningful impact by cross-pollinating an eco-system of ideas with their business.

Idea: Put your name in the middle of your journal & brainstorm all the topics that you love to talk about, share, teach & coach on. This is the basis of your eco-system

Some businesses have a very clear niche & they can use this to their advantage by “jackhammering” as Elizabeth Gilbert talks about.

Conscious Student Academy is an example of a jackhammer niche because it has one main focus & one main client base.

If you have a jackhammer niche, I recommend following this 3 step process:

  1. Survey your main client base. This builds data & evidence to inform your product & marketing. You can use Google Forms. Keep it simple.

  2. Using your survey responses, create solutions in your online program, course & marketing that help your one main client base reach their goals & overcome their solutions

  3. What website or software will you use to host & sell your evergreen courses? I like light & flexible so I often create products in Google Docs, and videos uploaded to unlisted YouTube playlists. Like this. Other options include Skool, Thrivekart or Kajabi.
