[Part 2] Fat-phobia, Healing & Authentic Confidence

Fat-phobia isn't … “Oh my god, you’re fat! Get away from me!

Its:

  • Hearing family members body shame others

  • Obsessing over your belly & constantly checking it

  • Idealising a fit body over emotional intimacy with others

  • Pursuing perfection over strength & vitality

  • Punishing yourself with fitness to “deserve” rest, sweets or attention

… fark, writing this is hitting deep.

You feeling me? ❤️ (you can reply to this email)

Healing our self-worth is facing these deep wounds with self-compassion, curiosity & faith.

I use the word faith because there are greater things on the other side of healing - things I can't picture yet - I have faith that vulnerability unlocks those things.

Brene Brown defines vulnerability as “Holding space for uncertainty” … I love that definition.

Can I hold space for my uncertainty?
Can I hold space for my process?
Can I hold space for my inner child who just wants to be seen, heard, validated, held & loved?

Inner child work - as well as Inner teenage work - has been key to healing my self-worth & body image.

Why? Because I need to address my subconscious - in other words:

I have to face the uncomfortable, painful & traumatic childhood memories I deny exist.”

It's so common to gaslight ourselves out of validating our pain.

  • “That's not trauma”

  • “Don't be dramatic”

  • “It was a generational thing”

Reminder: You don't have to share anything with your family until you are ready. You don’t have to share that you’ve got a coach, booking a solo getaway, your new partner or every detail of your life.

Can I hold space for my process?
